Important Rules & Regulations
Game Format – Individual groups within each category will play a round-robin (in league stage) one game of 21 points and the top 2 from each group will proceed to quarterfinals or semi-finals depending on the number of participants in each category. Quarter Final will also be one game of 21 points. The semi-finals and final will be ‘Best of 3’ of 21 points.
Schedule – Schedule\Fixtures of games will be released few days before the tournament commencement date. The tournament will be held on 23rd and 24th July from 8.30 am onwards.
Men’s Doubles Grading System
Grade 1 – Advanced Players Group
Grade 2 – Intermediate Players Group
Grade 3 – Beginner to Intermediate Players Group
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the Laws of Badminton adopted by the Badminton World Federation (Reference: Simplified Rules (2015) & Rules).
1. Format and Scoring
1.1. Decisions on teams in each group will be by a draw of lots.
1.2. League rounds will be a single game of 21 points. The team to reach 21 will be the winner.
1.3. Each team will play against every other team in their group. All group matches and, up to and including, quarterfinals will be a single game of 21 points. The team to reach 21 points first will be the winner. Players must switch sides at 11 points.
1.4. Winners of the group (league) stage will be decided based on the number of matches won. In case of a tie, the winner of the group match between the tied teams will be declared the winner. If this also does not result in a clear winner, the team with the highest average scores will proceed to the next stage.
1.5. Semi-Finals & Finals in each category will be a best of 3 games of 21 points each. Players must switch sides after each game and at 11 points in each game.
2. Umpire and Referee
2.1. Players MUST adhere to the rules and decisions made by the umpire and associates. Failure to comply with this condition may render the player liable to disqualification.
2.2. ALL decisions of the umpire (or the responsible official at the time) are FINAL.
3. Equipment and Attire
3.1. The tournament will be played only with shuttlecocks provided by the organisers.
3.2. Players must be attired in sports clothing and anti-marking shoes. Players not correctly attired may not be permitted to take part in the tournament.
4. Timing
4.1. Players must report at the registration desk at least 30 minutes prior to the starting time on each day.
4.2. Players must reach their respective courts at least 5 minutes prior to the start time of their game. A 5-minute grace will be given prior to the game, or the game will be considered defaulted to the other team.
4.3. In case, a member of a team or the team is absent, the opponent will proceed to the next round by default.
5. Losses and Injuries
5.1. Players are required to look after their belongings. Organisers will not be responsible for any claim of such loss.
5.2. Players are expected to have adequate medical cover\insurance prior to entering the competition. Organizers will not be responsible for any injuries, etc.
5.3. Games will be played in adherence to Queensland Health’s directive on COVID 19.
6. Cancellation/ Postponement/ Refunds
1.1. If the tournament is interrupted for any reason (power failure etc.), the organizers reserve the right to postpone or even abandon matches or the entire event if deemed appropriate. Organizers will not be liable for any financial or other loss, incurred due to such cancellation or changes.
1.2. No refunds will be made after the draw has been published, except where the tournament is canceled. Refund of entry fees is at the sole discretion of the organisers.

8. The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any player infringing these Conditions of Play or in any way interfering with the conduct of the tournament.
